Given that our country is having one of the highest deaths on roads, we should be endeavoring towards making the cars more safer for both pedestrians and passengers. But so is not the case. We have been deemed as mass market by majority of Automakers who see India as a Market to earn in Volumes and not look towards providing Quality & features.

But they are also not Wrong, they are well within the boundaries of the Law. Where-in, the automobiles have changes, evolved while the Laws have not kept pace.

As per the latest Test carried out by Global NCAP

1) Suzuki Maruti Swift scored zero stars for adult occupant protection conducted at 64kmph frontal collision.
Absence of Airbags and poor structure let to Zero Stars, do note Same Model with Airbag variant which is Manufactured in Europe has received 5 Start rating from Euro NCAP.

2) Datsun Go recently launched in India and soon to be catered to similar markets across the global also failed the global NCAP and its structure was deemed unstable.
Given the volumes this vehicle would be driving around the globe, we would wish this will have more assuring structure.

In defense, for the price and market target we cannot fault the Datsun much though would have liked it to have faired better in Crash Test.

Hoping #SafecarsforIndia , all this is taken note of and automotive manufactures beef-up their orientation, and the Govt. more so.
